His laboratory studies the role of actin-binding proteins in the recruitment of leukocytes to sites of inflammation. Med., Leukemia, Muc. Immunol., JI, and JLB.

Michael has been very involved with SLB and JLB over the last decade.  He has served as a member and chair of the SLB membership committee; and as reviewer, section editor and senior associate editor for JLB. Moreover, Michael is a member of the JLB Outreach Task Force and has organized and edited three special issues dedicated to meetings of the Mexican Society for Immunology, ALACI and the Latin-American Mucosal Immunology Group. In 2019, he received the Dolph O. Adams Award from SLB for excellence in innate immunity research.

SLB and JLB are grateful for the incredible service Luis Montaner continues to provide to our community and look forward to his ongoing participation as we enter this next chapter for the journal.

Please join us in thanking Luis and welcoming Michael!
