The presentation explores the evolution and future trends in cytometry data analysis, emphasizing the role of artificial intelligence (AI) and automation. It provides a historical overview of key eras and events, highlighting significant developments in AI, such as the introduction of neural networks, generative adversarial networks, and the concept of autonomous self-healing software. This is linked to specific AI/ML applications in cytometry, including examples of recent work within BD Biosciences.

John received a Ph.D. from Drexel University in Biomedical Engineering, with a focus on machine learning applied to single cell data.  He has worked for FlowJo, now BD Bioinformatics, ever since.  His role is Director of Science and Product Development, with responsibilities that include product ownership, research and design for new software tools, evangelizing cytometry, and fostering scientific collaborations intended to further our field.
