Job description:

A motivated person is sought for a postdoctoral associate position in the lab of Dr. Bruce Walcheck to conduct research in the area of leukocyte biology and cancer immunotherapy at the University of Minnesota (UMN). A focus of the lab includes engineering natural killer cells with enhanced receptors to increase their tumor killing potency (https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/31510805/) (https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/33467027/). Our research program is interdisciplinary exposing lab personnel to broad collaborations (with other labs at the UMN, other institutions, pharma, and biotech) and diverse research approaches in the areas of cell and molecular biology, cell imaging, protein characterization, flow cytometry, and in vivo methods. The lab has a long track record of NIH funding, intellectual property (IP), and translational research with IP being utilized in clinical trials.

Duties include participating in the design and implementation of collaborative research studies; generating, analyzing, interpreting, and presenting data; assisting with manuscript and grant preparation; and maintaining scientific logs and records.

Qualifications include a PhD degree or an equivalent degree by start date and have a research background in leukocyte biology, immunology, cancer biology, biochemistry, molecular biology, or related fields. Experience working with small animals (mice), flow cytometry, and molecular/cell biology. Strong communication and writing skills are necessary.

Experience is desired in the use of cell culture, protein and RNA/DNA analyses/manipulations, tumor models, cell signaling processes, manuscript/grant preparation, and statistical data analyses.
