Burn and Shock Trauma Research Institute

The Burn and Shock Trauma Research Institute (BSTRI) at Loyola University Chicago (LUC), Stritch School of Medicine is seeking to recruit one tenure track faculty and invites applications from both basic and clinician scientists. Both junior and senior level faculty are invited to apply.

The Stritch School of Medicine is expanding its research program across all the departments. The BSTRI faculty is highly collaborative and maintains a strong federally-funded research program in the area of burns, trauma, sepsis, alcohol and wound healing. The institute has a long history of training the next generation of basic and physician scientists and is home to two T32 training grants funded by NIAAA and NIGMS. The faculty candidates are expected to maintain an independent, externally-funded research program in the area of tissue injury, immune and inflammation in response to burn/trauma/sepsis/alcohol, and contribute to graduate and undergraduate medical education.

The BSTRI (https://ssom.luc.edu/bsti), housed within the department of Surgery, is located in the newly constructed state-of-the-art Center for Translational Research and Education (CTRE) at LUC’s Health Sciences Campus.

Candidates must have a Ph.D., M.D., M.D./Ph.D. or equivalent and postdoctoral experience with a strong publication record. Established investigators should have a strong history of research productivity and extramural support. The clinically active investigators with 50% commitments to research are encouraged to apply. This is a 12-month faculty appointment and the rank/tenure will be commensurate with qualifications.
