Position: Postdoctoral associate
Place: La Jolla, California
Field: Cellular biology, innate immunity
Principal Investigator: Professor Sergio D. Catz
E-mail: [email protected]

Duties & Responsibilities:  NIH-funded postdoctoral research positions are available in the laboratory of Dr. Sergio D. Catz at the Department of Molecular Medicine, The Scripps Research Institute, La Jolla, California. We are interested in molecular mechanisms regulating innate immunity and infection, and in drug discovery associated with these pathological processes. We are looking for highly motivated scientists to contribute to our research projects designed to study the crosstalk between vesicular trafficking and neutrophil function in the context of inflammation, infection and cardiovascular disease. The successful candidate will use a combination of molecular, cellular, genetic and drug-discovery approaches and will be trained in state-of-the-art super-resolution microscopy techniques. Investigators will use genetically modified mouse models of disease and human immune cells.

Requirements: A Ph.D. in cellular biology and or molecular biology is required. Preferred candidates would have experience in cellular biology and immunology. Technical proficiency in confocal microscopy as well as in flow cytometry, and/or biochemical techniques is preferred.

Location: The research will take place in the Department of Molecular Medicine at The Scripps Research Institute, La Jolla, California, which provides an outstanding research environment.

Application:  Interested candidates should submit a CV along with the names and contact information of three references to: [email protected]
