Dr. Emily Goldberg’s research focuses on immune-metabolic interactions that regulate inflammation. She completed her PhD at the University of Arizona under the mentorship of Dr. Janko Nikolich-Zugich where she focused on metabolic regulation of adaptive immunity against acute infections during aging. For her postdoctoral training Dr. Goldberg joined the laboratory of Dr. Vishwa Deep Dixit at Yale University where she studied how systemic metabolism impacts tissue-resident immune cells both in the context of infection and in obesity. Starting in spring 2020, Dr. Goldberg will be opening her lab as an Assistant Professor at UCSF. Her lab will continue studying the regulation of tissue-resident immune cells with the goal of identifying mechanisms of immune dysregulation that lead to chronic inflammation in mouse models of aging and obesity.
