The Department of Physiology is now recruiting for a Specialist at the Junior, Assistant or Associate ranks. Lab overview:
We study how the immune system and metabolism are coordinated to regulate inflammation and tissue health. We combine a variety of immunology and metabolic techniques to study how immunity is regulated, or becomes dysregulated, under the physiological pressures of aging and obesity. Responsibilities will include mouse husbandry and tissue collection, designing and executing experiments, and maintaining a detailed lab notebook. The successful candidate will train and work directly with the PI.

Required Qualifications:
• BA/BS or MS (or in process) in a biological science or related field
• Basic laboratory skills: molarity/dilution calculations, accurate solution formulation, ability to understand and follow basic laboratory protocols under direct supervision, willingness to work with mice
• Organizational skills: maintenance of accurate lab notebooks, attention to detail, ability to meet deadlines, team player
• Experience with basic lab techniques such as PCR, western blotting, cell culture
• Enthusiasm to learn and succeed
• Candidate must meet all requirements including the required degree by the time of the appointment.

Preferred Qualifications:
• Mouse handling, tissue collection, primary cell isolation, tissue culture
• Interest in immunology and/or metabolism
• Experience in flow cytometry, microscopy, cryosectioning, RNAseq analysis
• Completion of prior research projects
