About This Role:

The Division of Biology seeks to fill a faculty position in the area of Immunology, starting in fall 2020, at the level of Assistant Professor.

The successful candidate is expected to develop a competitive, extramurally-funded research program within the general area of immunology.

Why Join Us:

The Division of Biology at Kansas State University, a Carnegie Classification Research 1 university, is a large and diverse academic unit with an outstanding record of excellence in research and teaching. The Division has a sustained track record of funding from agencies such as NIH, NSF and DOD, and is looking for a colleague who can combine a strong independent research program with an interest in collaborations that complement current strengths in immunology/autoimmunity, host-pathogen interactions and microbiome research. Current research in the Division of Biology covers the entire spectrum of biology ranging from molecules to ecosystem biology. This breadth promotes a synergy which encourages innovation at the intersection of biological sub-disciplines, and provides the successful candidate with an opportunity to impact students, faculty, and staff beyond their immediate focused field of study.

A top priority of the Division is the promotion of an inclusive and vigorous research culture. The administrative leadership will work with the successful candidate to provide meaningful mentoring, a working environment to encourage an independent research career, and a competitive start-up package.

The Division occupies space in five laboratory buildings on the Manhattan campus and maintains an AAALAC certified small animal facility, with access to a USDA-certified facility and BSL-3 research space at the Biosecurity Research Institute.  Collaborative centers in close proximity to the Division of Biology include the Johnson Cancer Research Center, College of Veterinary Medicine, USDA-ARS and the National Bio and Agro-defense Facility (NBAF), a Federal BSL-4 facility scheduled for completion in 2022.
