The Medical Faculty at Johann Wolfgang Goethe University Frankfurt am Main, Institute of Biochemistry I of the Gustav-Embden-Zentrum of Biochemistry, invites applications for the following position, as civil servant or public employee:
 
Professor (W2) for Biochemistry of Innate Immunity
 
This professorship shall strengthen research towards macrophage biology. By their outstanding knowledge candidates shall support and broaden the already existing research areas “inflammation” and/or “tumor biology” at the Institute of Biochemistry I. Candidates have a distinct concept to enhance the interdisciplinary research towards lipid mediators and/or macrophage polarization. Besides, we expect documented scientific achievements in the areas of FlowCytometry, Imaging and in-vivo-experiments.
 
Teaching obligations in biochemistry for medical/dental students cover the full spectrum and require a strong enthusiasm. Furthermore, participation in general duties as well as in university academic selfadministration is mandatory. Integration in existing core research areas of the faculty towards oncology/immunology, cardiovascular biology, or translational pharmaceutical research is eligible.
 
A high scientific qualification with international publications, successful acquisition of funds and proof of experience in modern teaching concepts as well as high scientific engagement are expected from the candidates. Prerequisites for the application are a completed university education, educational eligibility, graduation and habilitation or proof of equivalent scientific achievements.  
 
The designated salary for the position is based on the German university pay scale.
