The University of California, Irvine has an opportunity for a postdoctoral position within the laboratories of Andrea Tenner and Ali Mortazavi to work on projects related to microglia, astrocytes and neuroinflammation mechanisms in Alzheimer’s disease.  The goal to characterize the contribution of complement-dependent neuroinflammation, synapse pruning and neuroprotective pathways and propel therapeutic intervention in Alzheimer’s disease. Projects involve tissue and single cell RNA-Seq from genetically altered or pharmacologically treated mouse models over time, as well as all types of quantitative microscopy.  This position requires a Ph.D. degree with experience in bioinformatics and/or superresolution or confocal microscopy and quantitative image analysis.   Background in neurodegeneration, neuroinflammation or complement is a plus.   The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong problem-solving skills, creative thinking, and initiative.

In addition to the two PIs, the successful candidate will interact with others in UCI’s highly interactive and innovative neuroscience and immunology community. Candidate should have a record of published graduate research. The position will be appointed at the level that is commensurate with the education and experience of the individual candidate.
