PhD student position in inflammation research (Mexico City)

A PhD position is available in the laboratory of Dr. Michael Schnoor in the Department of Molecular Biomedicine at the Center for Research and Advanced Studies (Cinvestav) in Mexico-City, officially starting September 1st 2018. Interviews and inscription will take place in May. Cinvestav is one of the leading research institutions in Mexico and provides an international and multi-disciplinary environment.

The successful candidate will study the role of actin-binding proteins and the actin cytoskeleton in the regulation of vascular permeability and leukocyte extravasation in different in vitro and in vivo inflammation models. Projects are funded by the Mexican national scientific funding organization (Conacyt) and the Royal Society/Newton Fund. The work program involves analyses of primary cell cultures and mice using intravital microscopy, confocal microscopy, permeability assays, FACS, ELISA, Western blot etc.

We are seeking self-motivated, creative and dedicated individuals to work in an interdisciplinary team of young researchers. An MSc degree in cell biology, biochemistry, immunology (or equivalent) and excellent English communication skills are prerequisites for this position. Knowledge in molecular and cell biology techniques, microscopy, mouse handling and Spanish will be an advantage.

Our post-graduate program does not charge tuition fees. Accepted candidates will receive a monthly stipend from Conacyt during the 4-year duration of the program.
