Postdoctoral position in Los Angeles

A postdoctoral position is available in the Underhill laboratory (https://www.cedars-sinai.edu/Research/Research-Labs/Underhill-Lab/) at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles to study mechanisms of innate immunity and host-microbe interactions. Research interests include macrophage and dendritic cell biology and intestinal inflammatory diseases (see Nature 472:47; Science 336:1314; Cell 166:624). The successful candidate may study molecular mechanisms of interactions between microbes (fungi and bacteria) and phagocytes, or the role of the microbiome in intestinal diseases with a focus on fungal microbiota.

Recent PhD graduates (within 3 years of graduating) with immunology experience and a strong background in animal models of intestinal inflammation and/or microbiome studies will be preferred. Experience in basic cell culture, molecular biology, flow cytometry and mouse-handling is necessary. Strong communication skills and at least one peer-reviewed first author publication are required.

Cedars-Sinai Medical Center is a one of the largest nonprofit academic medical centers in the U.S. and is located on a nearly 30-acre campus in the West Hollywood/Beverly Hills area of Los Angeles, one of the nation's most culturally and ethnically diverse cities.
